Here's the scrapbook of our lodge remodel project. We think you'll agree, it was worth the effort.
We start with as-found photos of the living room. The fireplace will get a major re-do and the wall with the clock is about to become history.
The formal dining room and kitchen occupied the west side of the main floor. Those cabinets and walls have to go.
Hmm, that back kitchen wall looks like a good place for a stove and fridge, but we'll need to close off that door into the hall.
The bedrooms weren't too bad, they just needed some new trim and paint. Under the carpets we found hardwood floors that were sanded and sealed.
Time to start the demo. First, let's get those cabinets out.
Next the wall between the kitchen and dining room comes out. Geri really wanted to save that built-in china hutch... um, sorry, it was built-in and wasn't about to come out in one piece
Time to take out the wall between the kitchen and the living room. One Great Room coming up.
That's better, it's feeling more open already. Since this was a bearing wall we had to build a temporary support wall until the beam is ready.
Logs are ready and so is Robbie. The center post is set first and Lynn's all smiles as it comes together.
With the beam in place it's time to knock the temp wall out. So far, so good... the house is still standing!
Tongue and groove was added to the ceiling and log siding to the walls.
Time to pay the fireplace a little attention. The previous owner had a few old split logs that were perfect to build a new mantle around the rock fireplace. A lot of sanding and they're as good as new.
The hardwood in the living room was pristine but the kitchen floor had seen better days. We decided to cover the entire Great Room with new laminate flooring. The old wood windows were also replaced with new vinyl windows.
A completely new kitchen was installed by Wasatch Custom Cabinets out of Ogden, Utah
Some custom tile work adds to the rustic feel of the kitchen area.
The River Bend bedroom received new tongue and groove siding, paint, and a refinished floor.
The Frontier Trails bedroom received new paint, trim, and a refinished floor.
The Native Nights bedroom received the paint, trim, floor treatment too.
The Wispering Pines bedroom received new paneling, trim, and a refinished floor.
The Moose Junction bedroom just needed some decorations.
